    Rural Water and Supply Department

    Zilla Parishad, Wardha is the headquarters of the Rural Water Supply Department and has sub-divisions in all the eight talukas of Wardha district. Also, the mechanical sub-division of this department is functioning under the Zilla Parishad.

    There are a total of 765 individual water supply schemes in Wardha district and a total of 9 regional water supply schemes are operatinal through the Zilla Parishad. There are a total of 4883 hand pumps and 51 electric pumps working in the district.

    The Mission of this department is to contribute to the development of the country by regularly supplying clean and quality drinking water to the rural people of this district through domestic tap connections, to maintain their health and improve their quality of life.

    Objective:-

    Most of the population of India lives in rural areas. The Rural Water Supply Department has been set up to provide clean potable drinking water to the people of rural areas.

    Function:-

    1. Implementation of various water supply schemes through Rural Water Supply Department.
    2. To provide technical guidance and assistance for water supply matters to gram panchayats and other institutions in the district.
    3. To assist in the completion of schemes with necessary cooperation and participation with roads, railways, and other central and state government agencies.
    4. Evaluation of water supply sub-segments as well as keeping records of them on various websites and portals.
    5. Active participation in the government’s ground water conservation and resource strengthening activities.
